The Principle of Care

“Care is whatever you give your attention to and help to grow.”

The 8th 'lost' principle of Natural Law — the generative principle that binds the other seven. In the Seed of Life it is the outer circle that holds the inner seven together; without it the creative essence is lost. What you genuinely care about — what you spend your time and attention on — becomes what you think about, and therefore how you behave and what you create.

Also known as

The same law appears across traditions under different names.

  • “Anahata — the heart center”· Yogic / chakra
  • “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be”· Christian (Matthew 6:21)
  • “Right Intention”· Buddhist (Eightfold Path)

How to apply it

  • Audit your two spiritual currencies daily: what am I spending my time on, and paying attention to?
  • Develop heart, mind and guts — in that order: care enough to know, then act on what you understand.
  • Care enough about change to do it; wishing without caring-into-action creates nothing.
